Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has approved the reappointment of Mr Olaniran Olatona as the Executive Chairman of the Ekiti State Internal Revenue Service for another four-year tenure.
The renewed appointment takes effect from November 1, 2026, while the Governor is expected to forward Olatona’s name to the Ekiti State House of Assembly for formal confirmation.
Olatona, a Chartered Accountant and Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), was initially appointed to head the state revenue agency in November 2022.
Since assuming office, he has reportedly overseen significant improvements in the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), with collections recording an increase of over 60 per cent. The growth has contributed to the state’s revenue base and its capacity to finance public services and development projects.
In another major appointment, Governor Oyebanji has named Mr Ishola Akingbade as the new Chairman of the Ekiti State Security Trust Fund.
Akingbade, a former Commissioner for Finance in Ekiti State, is an experienced financial management professional and tax expert.
He is also a Chartered Accountant and Fellow of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN). He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Financial Management.
Akingbade, who hails from Ilukuno-Ekiti in Ijero Local Government Area, is expected to bring his wealth of experience in financial administration to his new responsibility.
His appointment takes immediate effect.
The two appointments reflect the Oyebanji administration’s continued efforts to strengthen revenue generation and institutional support for security in Ekiti State.
